Cover cropping benefits us all
Our friends at Square Roots Farm have built a bee paradise. Not only do they grow a cornucopia of produce but they also employ cover cropping in their unused fields to naturally fertilize and provide forage for our pollinator friends. A favorite of theirs is Phacelia (pictured below), a cousin of vetch. It makes a light, beautiful honey.
The circle represents a 3 mile forage radius around the Third Ward location.
Farmer Jake and family provide for our bees each year with various veg and bountiful cover cropping! We love the beautiful phacelia making for a delicate mid-season honey!
